Here is the witches brew.
Similar recipes have been used; I apply honey amber tint first which I thin to 1/2 ounce per quart of water. In my experience, anything stronger has a negative effect on QSWO with larger fleck.
I then apply Early American stain after lightly knocking down with 320 grit.
Since I am using Waterlox, I will not use shellac. I rub in 3 coats: sanding after each one with 320. I then use a double boiler method mixing brown shoe polish with paste wax. Here is the melted mix. It’s not applied until dry.
After applying the wax with 0000 steel wool and a slight buff, the is the end result.
After sealing and waxing the entire piece, I’ll post a pic of the completed project.
