Shop tour 2014
finally back
Finally back in the shop and today I finished the last details, so I hereby declare the shop open!
This picture are from last week, but it’s how the shop looks from the street in the evening light.
My shaving horse functions as a bench, here people passing can take a rest and I can enjoy some quiet moments, with a pipe of tobacco or a slice of bread.
My shop is located in the center of Copenhagen, Denmark, right next to what we call the lakes.
Since we are celebrating, here a picture from new year’s eve at the lakes.
Well let’s get inside, it cold winter out now.
The sign on the door says FABRIKKEN, this means the FACTORY in Danish.
The stove is fired up and the new floor nicely reflects the warm light.
The main room are divided into a study, writing, playing area on the right and a woodworking area on the left.
This because I am a retired architect (due to health) and do many things here besides woodworking.

Studio part are kept light and my grand grandparents petrol light brings a warm light, on cold days.
Ohhh yes and the chairs are from the old board of the Danish railway company, now fitted with sheepskins and meant for guests, you are all welcome if you pass Copenhagen, just send me a mail.
Here my tools and bench, or more exactly hand tools and bench, on this picture with the cabinets closed.
I love this place, it is like a little world I step into, like a wonderful meditative area of wood and tools.

Jim’s mallet behind the chisels, since they go hand in hand.
Hide glue from a 90 years old Danish carpenter.
And I could go on, the shop is full of memories from all over the world, especially due to you guys here on LJ and I enjoy this every day.
Have a few little things going on before I can start first project.
A Japanese jointer needs adjusting.
A hammer hanger for the French cleat.
The shaves are from a molding for the front door.
And my oh my – do I enjoy being back making shaves.
The old blocked door also holds planes, there’s a shelf for the Japanese.
Even the cabinet on the left holds planes, I have realized I have a problem.
Here a evening shot towards the street, where the blinds are down.
So we turn around and look into the little entrance.
Out here I put up a curtain…
Also you see my uni bike (one wheel) I love taking a little tour in the neighborhood on sunny days.
You will also see my daughters and mine ice skates hanging, this winter there have been no ice on the lakes, but they are ready in case it comes.1
Here two years back on the lakes.
Bathroom now white and with tiles.
Ok since this was how it looked a few months back, I guess we can call it improvement.
And a 180 turn.
Back in the hall way we have curtain fall.
I blocked the third door and use the space for storage.
Kitchen.
Espresso.
Every workshop needs a bar. lol.
So now we enter the back room, or the machine room as I like to call it.
Here I made a lumber rack and some shelf’s.
Sanding, drilling and storage on the back wall.
Small and effective.
Sawing station with Festools doing the job and all the jigs are right where they are needed now.
The saw are on wheels so it can go into the main shop also.
Most of all I keep the main workshop free of dust.
Jointing and thickness planer on wheels.
The lathe are on the floor and will be put on the table when in use.
(Had hoped to have it up permanent, but could not find the room).
Band saw on wheels and the scroll saw on it’s side.
And all the little cabinets with nails, stuff and screws, my wonderful daughter just made order in these the other day.
Thats it for the shop tour, now it’s just a matter of making shaves.
