Finally, the website has gone live.
Thanks to everyone who commented on the last installment, I took bits of everyone’s advice and got it cobbled together. By my own admission, I’m a bit of a tweaker (as in one who tweaks things – not a methamphetamine using gay or bisexual) – so there’s a high probability that there’ll be some minor alterations, but for now I’m happy with it.
I used a company called register365.com – they had an advertising campaign back in the autumn extolling the virtues of their easy-to-use website builder. I must say for what I wanted, it worked really well.
I used to be an artworker and retoucher but never did anything to do with website design. The ‘website builder’ that is part of their package works just like any graphics program – wysiwyg (what you see is what you get). Type, place, type some more, move things about, move them back, move them somewhere else… you get the picture.
It was like taking a trip down memory lane doing all the retouching – but a lot more interesting than ‘adding three bits of rice to the left of the pork chop’ or ‘adding more chicken to the quesadilla’ like all that Boston Market, Delimex and Ore-Ida crap I used to do.
Total cost of doing this is €73 or $100 for the year. I won’t complain at that.
