Is Masonite considered wood?
Johnny Strawberry asked me to post the sign I was planning to make when finished. As promised here it is!
I’ve been busy refurbishing furniture as I am going back into private practice. In a project page I showed a sofa that I refinished and put in new webbing. I mentioned that I was screwing up ( I think Murphy was in the shop?) attempting to make a sign. The cost for a new sign is $150 which I don’t have extra. Sooooo being the industrious wanna be I got and old wooden sign board from the building manager and took it to my shop.
My wife has a new toy that cuts letters or makes a stencil. Two attempts. Paint bled through on my first attempt.
Bright idea! use contact adhesive! Sprayed the backside of the stencil. Put it down tight to the second sign board which I made in 20 minutes but it took two days to get primer on. The result is below!
My wife suggested a vinyl that is meant for exterior use, and I said “How much?” I ordered good artist paintbrushes as I planned to hand paint it. Winter and my wife won! The vinyl arrived before the paint and brushes. I do not have enough patience. So we teamed up. I laid out the lines and she cut and adhered the letters. As below.

I added a 3/4 inch black edge with my new paintbrushes, and Anchored the sign to the building.

The last picture is the results of my second attempt.
Have a chair and desk that are next!
