Some help from pops

I somehow missed the part where the teacher showed how to make a compound miter joint—I think I was stuck on the previous exercise. After coming home, I spent some time just futzing around trying to figure out how he did the cuts for the joint so quickly. I ended up getting lazy and calling my architect dad for help with a hand-cut friendly approach. As a software programmer my spacial sense isn’t anything to brag out, my brain works in code. As for my dad, he’s always been a guru in this sort of thing. I remember all the enthusiasm he had helping me in my math classes growing up. Anyways it was also a good opportunity to woodwork with dad, even though he was 500 miles away.

So I described to him that the challenge was how to do the layout lines without having to measure any angles, and obviously use any sort of jig. After describing the problem to my dad, he emailed me the schematic, and despite my clumsy saw cuts, I think it worked out. Thanks pops!
