Trays #1: Titanic Serving Trays Launch

I wanted to make some Serving Trays featuring the RMS Titanic.
So after doing some research I found all sorts of interesting facts, amongst them was a story regarding a body being found on the ocean floor.
Being a bit on the macabre side I decided to try and find out if it was a hoax or the likes.

Sure enough a pair of boots and a coat were found together indicating the last resting place of one of the passengers, I didn’t think much more about it and began the preparation of my trays.

I want to make a total of four.
The general concept was to look something like this.

Or even maybe,

then possibly,

Regardless the frame needed to reflect the era.

I was thinking of doing a laser or CNC router image, and asking Lazy Larry for input ( Degoose)
using the original White Star Line logo

I had heaps of suitable lengths of cherry and walnut but they were not deep enough.
So I set to work jointing them and gluing them together.

I matched them as best as possible but some pieces were unmatchable so I decided to just use them as ends only.

After the glue up was finished I band sawed them into suitable widths.

Not forgetting a cup of coffee in between!
